The next place of interest is the 'City Cross' or 'Butter Cross' as it is more often referred to. It has been in its present site since around the 15th century. It was once used by countrymen to sell produce, hence the name Butter Cross. You can now turn left, on a slight detour, to visit the 'City Museum - one of the first purpose built museums outside of London.
